Living two lives. Who knew that could happen?

Before university you don't expect to be living two lives, in fact it didn't even pass my mind. But, you end up living your home life and the life you live at University. I want to share my thoughts on the whole idea of living two lives...

I wasn't too sure of what to expect from university, whether I was going to like it or not. But now I have taken this chapter in life, I realise that it is a good one to take.

I really enjoy my course which is a positive outcome so far. It has made my love for literature and English a lot more deep rooted. I find that going to University you take care in what you do, obviously the expense of Uni motivates you because you think each lecture and seminar is worth so much so you may as well make the most of it. But, enjoying your course is probably the most beneficial thing whilst being at University because it makes your time feel much more valuable to you. Your course needs to make you happy.

Obviously, a major part to Uni life, inevitably is the socialising, partying and pubbing experiences you gain. Going out for drinks becomes a weekly or even daily thing to do, going for smoothies becomes a part of your course mates crew tradition. Working, cooking and cleaning seems to just fit in between all of this, so don't worry about those aspects - yet, you do feel that sometimes you never have time to yourself... But, especially for a first year, you don't want time alone, you want to keep yourself energised and socialised in order to escape from the homesickness!

A major thing that I find most crazy about university is how fast time flies by. I have already completed my first year (nearly) and I don't feel I have been here that long. Make sure you experience Uni how you want to experience it, but make sure you don't miss out on the opportunities and events that Uni can give to you. Uni is there to give you a bundle of skills and events that you will treasure and make you who you are.

The second life... I love my other life and returning home to the peaceful, quiet town. I get to escape from the city for a while. Don't get me wrong I love being in a city, I always have wanted to experience city life which I have got, living on the top floor; floor 11 of a block of flats overlooking the City. But, going home sometimes becomes the best thing. You appreciate your home so much more. Before I left for Uni I really didn't want to leave my family and friends at all, but for some reason I wasn't bothered about the place at all! Now, for some strange reason, I can't wait to get back to my home town, back to the old memories and layout of it all. It's the sense of familiarity that makes you feel so close to your home again which makes you appreciate your town much more. That's a bonus that Uni gives to you.

So, at first, living two lives is a bit of a shock to the system. But, you get used to it and you will learn to love, live and deal with it if University is what you want to complete and experience in life.
