Tidy space = Tidy mind x PRIMARK

First of all, I believe I am someone who tries to keep organised and tidy, which can of course slip (I'm sure my mum would agree) when things are busy or my energy is low, so keeping tidy is kind of important to me. Fortunate enough, I have renovated my work space using Primark's home products (exciting stuff) and it's given me so much motivation and energy to get the ball rolling! This blog has really got me thinking about the connection between being organised and a healthy mind set. So, I'm going to share the products I have chosen on my shopping spree and how tidying my work space has made me feel settled and motivated for my working day...

All items for under £50, not bad (excluding the laptop and plant obvs)

The word ‘tidy’ can mean different things to people because we all have different levels of tidiness, organisation and cleanliness. Having been to university and lived with various people it can be stressful when everyone views 'tidy' differently. That is why I know it's important for me to keep my own personal space tidy in order to feel relaxed. I've realised that if I’m having an ‘off’ day, having a messy room does subconsciously stress me out, or at least I always feel like I have something to do (the nagging voice telling me to clear up). I personally prefer to have a simple and not over-crowded working space, which is probably why when my room is tidy, I procrastinate less.

An organised planner and note pad, for me, is the core to feeling organised. I love to make lists (as you already know from previous blogs) and plan my weeks ahead in order to keep focused and remember what’s going on in my busy schedule. Below are my favourite items from Primark's stationery range:

Pens x3 £1.50, Marble planner £2.50, Note pads x3 £1.50

Whether you’re at university or work from home, it’s important to think about what makes you feel comfortable and relaxed in order to freely think. I know when I buy a set of new pens, it motivates me to write or work, likewise a fresh new notepad helps too. Don't forget, this notepad doesn't have to be for your lists or even related to work, it can be a space for your mind to go wild, as my friends have said it's very cathartic to write down your thoughts (I'm still yet to try this). Using my favourite mug for a cup of tea makes my tea taste so much better, and having a colour coordinated desk makes me feel like I've got my sh*t together. It really is handy to find out what makes you thrive in a working environment.

Wild sage and cedar candle £4

Tuning into my senses has helped me figure out what my mind likes when working. Think about it now... What do you like to smell, touch, taste, see and hear?

Personally, I like the smell of a candle and it's physical appearance - they make me feel relaxed and cosy (hence why I bought THREE). Of course, I love a good pic ’n’ mix selection and/or chocolate for my sweet appetite. The fairylights have brightened up my working space for both the day and night. Here are a few of the things I chose from Primark which I pieced together...

Black house wire £7, Incense £3, Plant in jar £2, White ceramic candle (oriental lotus) £4, Madagascar candle £1, Notepads x3 £1.50, Cactus £3, Firefly lights £2.50

Hopefully I've inspired you to jazz up your work space and reflect on how your surroundings can effect your work and thinking - an inspiring environment could lead to endless possibilities!

On that note, to leave you feeling inspired...

Copper Peg Board £8, Glitzy lights £5
